Halastjarna (Comet in English) was opened in the spring of 2004. The restaurant  is located in the Öxnadalur  valley off road no 1, 20 minutes south of Akureyri (capital of the north). Our goal is to offer guests beautiful quality food in a unique atmosphere. The menu varies from day to day depending on what is most exiting and fresh from the fish market, the slaughter and the garden harvest. The restaurant fits about 25 people and is open from 12 noon during the summer.

Halastjarna restaurant is located in the valley Öxnadalur and just below the poverful mountain Hraundrangi. From Halastjarna there is a popular  walking trail up to Haunsvatn, a famous lake up in the mountain. It is fairly easy two hours walk that suits most people young and old. Feel  free to fish in the lake. Across the road, only a five-minute walking distance is the guest house Engimýri.
